India's first cartoonist and the first cartoonist of independent India. Utkal Tripathy is an Indian cartoonist, graphic designer, and illustrator. He has lived in Mumbai since the age of eight. He is the first Indian cartoonist to have worked for a major international magazine – The Times of India, where he has been a regular contributor since 2000
He has been described as "the most prominent cartoon artist in India". His cartoons have become a trademark of his portfolio and have been published in various publications across the world. In 2009, he was given the Best Feature Cartoon Award by Times Now – a first for an Indian cartoonist – at the Asian Television Awards for his work during the 2008 Summer Olympics.
